Hello Bloggers

This blog was suggested to be created at the Ohio State Powershift in Oberlin, '09. A group of Ohio activists and students got together to work talk about what issues surrounding food would we as Ohio citizens like to address.
Some of the major topics that came up were:
- Lobby day for Farm Bureau (revolving around Issue 2 passing in Ohio)
- Letter writing to your city and state representatives (a template should be available via email, hopefully soon)
- Networking and supporting more CSAs and local organic food in general (via local organic farmers)
- Working on possibly geting some policies changed surrounding food in Educational facilities and food labeling (listing where the food came from or having a carbon foot print image [we are thinking BIG!]

People feel free to use this blog to suggest other activist food issues, especially if they are surrounding Ohio. This is pretty much an Ohio sect; however, all people and ideas are welcome.
This is an open forum of FOOD! Welcome!

  1. We need to start many small farms across the state. I'm currently studying for my plant pathology class and coming to the same conclusion regardless what pathogen I am studying. We need more diversity. Small farms provide diversity and responsible gardening practices. Food Forests and permaculture are a great answer and many small farms will provide a great job source....Anyway that's just one man's opinion.
